I am a Professor in Economics at the University of Tampa. I am also a Senior Fellow with the Independent Institute in Oakland, CA and a Senior Affiliated Scholar with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

I received my PhD in Economics from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. My work focuses on issues related to U.S. defense policy and militarism.

My most recent book, Austrian Economics: An Introduction (with C. Coyne) was published with Polity Press in 2026.
